Logitech M215 Wireless mouse short review
Back to the basics: 3 buttons only. |
I am a very picky person when it comes to choosing a mouse. I would only use gaming grade mice for my daily work, web surfing or for gaming purposes. I use my trusty old MX518 for gaming sessions and the newer Microsoft Sidewinder X3 for daily office work and web surfing.
Recently, I got myself a laptop for working purposes and maybe, just maybe, a little of gaming in the free time (reviews coming up later), I needed a mouse that I can carry along with my new workstation. The freebie mouse that came along with the laptop was a joke, cheap and unreliable. So, I've decided to get myself a new wireless mouse.
The Logitech M215 in Red. |
Initially, I had put a few choices to choose from, namely: Microsoft Arc Mouse RM199, Logitech V550 RM170, Logitech V470 RM159 and the more recent M555b RM189, and A4Tech G7 X-Far mouse RM69. But in the end, I didn't choose any of them from the list. Instead, I got myself a Logitech M215 despite of its price tag and design. My first impression on the product? The red color suits my new laptop's color perfectly!
Accessories included in the box:
1x Duracell AA Battery
1x Nano Receiver
1x Logitech M215 mouse
1x Quick start manual
The build quality is superb which is expected from Logitech, and I expect it to be robust and tough enough to withstand a bit of a drop and that, and there's no loosey parts, everything is pretty solid, including the battery cover and scroll wheel. But the only thing that concerns me everytime is that, their mouse feet are sometimes not properly fixed, and it kinda annoys me in a way, but I might just as well let it be since it has no warranty for that and I will grow to ignore it as times go by.
It may be small, but it's pretty comfortable. |
The little nano receiver. I'm having it plugged in all the time. It really is plug & forget. |
But in the meantime, there's only 3 buttons available on the mouse and may annoy some of those who are used to a 5 button mouse like myself. The lack of the back and forward can be annoying sometimes, and need some time to get used to. About the battery life, I'm impressed. The stock battery that came with mouse lasted for months before needing to be changed. And I am very sure it would last longer with Energiner's Lithium-Ion Alkaline batteries which I just changed few days back.
Pros:
1. Affordable
2. Easy to setup
3. Comfortable
4. Solid build quality
5. Nano receiver
6. Easy to carry
7. Great response, no delay noticed.
8. Uses 1 AA battery only
9. Comes with 3 years limited warranty
Cons:
1. No rubber side grips.
2. The little battery indicator is somewhat useless.
3. Mousefeet is not made of TEFLON. (Not smooth)
There's ON/OFF button at the bottom of the mouse. |
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Logitech M215 is definitely a must have for all laptop owners. The build quality is good, comfortable, features a reliable optical sensor, easy to setup and best of all, it only costs you RM69 to own one. It is also very easy to carry around and works perfectly well on virtually any surfaces a laptop user might encounter. Heck it tracks perfectly well on my bed!
